If you are reading this page then you probably think that sustainability is meaningful and have a pretty good idea of what you think sustainability means. Maybe you are already taking steps to live in a more sustainable way...taking public transportation to work, growing some of your own food or installing CFL bulbs in your home. One of our goals is to produce our product and conduct our business in as sustainable a way as possile. For us, this means operating in a way that minimizes our negative impacts on our environment and community and maximizes our positive impacts. We've listed below some of the steps that we've taken to achieve these goals.
Green LeafRecycle/Reuse

Sawdust and planer shaving recycling
We give away our hardwood shavings and sawdust by listing it on our local Craigslist. Folks commonly use it for garden mulch, animal bedding (chickens, rabbits, horses), smoking meat and growing mushrooms. This step alone has reduced our waste by approximately 50%.

Small wood scrap
A portion of small wood scrap is used in the packaging for our products when they are shipped. We also give away and/or sell small wood scrap to local craftsmen/hobbyists who convert them into intricate works of art. The scrap wood that isn't used in the aforementioned ways is donated to a local charity, East Central Ministries, where it is used in crafts projects and/or as fuel for heating.

Cardboard, Aluminum, Tin, Paper, Plastic
Much of our cardboard is reused in our shipping department, if possible. The cardboard that is unsuitable for shipping is recycled along with the aluminum, tin, paper, plastic and glass.		 Cardboard loaded to be recycled.

Electricity

Plywood
Any plywood used in our casegoods is NAUF (no-added urea formaldehyde).		 NAUF Plywood
   
Finish
Our finish is 100% pure polymerized linseed oil. Linseed oil is the oil that is pressed from the seeds of the flax plant (flax seed oil). It is non-toxic and is completely free of heavy metal driers, VOCs and petroleum distillates.
