  Jim Midkiff
Born in the heart of Appalachia, Jim's family moved frequently during his most formative years. He managed to attend three different high schools in three different states (West Virginia, Indiana and Kansas) before finally graduating. Once he started college at the University of Kansas, he decided to stay put long enough to graduate before relocating a final time to New Mexico.

Jim's work history since college can be looked upon as either showing entirely no direction or showing interest in almost everything he discovers. He prefers to think of it as the latter, reflecting his often incongruous interests in the world. Some of the titles he's held since college have included: domestic groundfish fisheries observer (on an Alaskan longliner), laborer (on a concrete highway paving crew), field biologist (working with radio-collared gray foxes), network administrator and supervising forensic scientist.

Jim has long been interested in sustainable living and processes. In fact, his bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas is in Biology, specifically, Systematics and Ecology. This interest transfers well to Ramblin Wood because of the initiatives that Gregg and Jim have taken to produce Ramblin Wood products in the most environmentally-friendly, non-toxic and sustainable ways possible.

When Jim is away from the Ramblin Wood shop he enjoys gardening, vermicomposting, herding his ten chickens, taking digital photographs, playing soccer and working on cars. Someday, when time and money permit, he'd like to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail or do a walking/cycling tour of Europe.

  Gregg Mich
After growing up in southeastern Wisconsin and graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Gregg moved to Minneapolis to see just how cold winters can get.  One winter was enough--it was time for something different. So, Gregg and his girlfriend at the time (now wife) looked to the West for adventure. It came down between the Pacific Northwest's 300 days of rain or the Southwest's 300 days of sun. The road lead to the beautiful "Land of Enchantment"- New Mexico. For the first few wonderful months, the flatlanders criss-crossed the state exploring their new surroundings. Unfortunately, money started to run thin and reality set in. After a few jobs in Information Technology, Gregg helped build an international high tech manufacturing corporation. 13 years later, the entrepreneural bug bit hard and the opportunity to lead Ramblin Wood to the next stage was set. Gregg's passion for building sustainable products in America made the move even more attractive. At Ramblin Wood, Gregg focuses on updating the company's infrastructure, focusing on new markets/products, and helps out wherever he can. Outside of Ramblin Wood, Gregg cherishes his time spent with his wife and their two young sons.

  Rusty & Roscoe
These boys are Australian Cattle Dog mixes and were about nine months old when they were adopted from Animal Humane Association of New Mexico in the fall of 2007. They accompany their dad, Jim, to the shop each day. Their myriad responsibilities at the shop include:
*greeting the delivery drivers and customers
*chewing on scraps of wood and cardboard
*defending the shop from the neighborhood feral cats
*barking at strangers
*wrestling with each other
*begging for scraps at lunch time

When not working at the shop they enjoy wrestling, sleeping and tending to their flock of chickens at home.
